2nd Scoop of the Poop

Well, we had the 2nd poop scoop the other day. I laughed my ass off the whole time. They got some corn in that batch. I tried those Gerber Graduates and Lily Rose loved them but they had a lot of corn in them and she seems to like corn. Remember the Corn Doodles in China? Anyway, we all know corn goes in and comes out the same way. So yeah, they got corn.

We are having some sleep problems here in our house. Lily Rose goes to sleep around 8 pm and then gets up at least 12 times during the night. She's not "up" but she cries in her sleep and sits up. We tried lots of different things and nothing works. The only thing we have not tried is to bring her into our bed. That is the one thing we won't do. So, we have many sleepless nights, but I guess we will get through those too.

Everything else is going great. She really is a happy baby and she is very well loved in this house. When I tell her not to do something and she keeps doing it and my voice gets stern, my son yells at me to leave her alone. He will run over to "protect" her. It's awesome to see. At least I know no one will get away with bothering his sister. Joseph is a great big brother.

Other then that, we are getting ready for Joseph's Communion. We went to church the other night for the last meeting before communion and we took Lily Rose with us and at one point the church was somewhat quite and Lily Rose let out this very loud burp. Me and my cousin Gina couldn't stop laughing. Joseph got embarrassed and my mother was also. I thought it was very funny. She is a rip and she fits right into our family.

Congratulations on making your Communion Joseph!!
Lisa- have you tried giving her Ibuprofen when she wakes up the first time to see if it helps her to sleep more soundly? If she's teething, that will keep rousing her. Motrin is better than Tylenol. Has anti-inflamatory and last longer! Just a thought.

12 times a night!!! You must be exhausted. Wish I had an easy fix for you. Paul thankfully has been a great sleeper. Hey...my life isn't perfect though...I have a 3 year old who refuses to potty-train!! We joke that Paul will be potty-trained before Audrey. Oh well.

Lisa,

I can certainly identify with Lily Rose waking up multiple times during the night. I have a three year old that has done it since the day she came home from China!
There is no quick and easy answer since we have tried it all:) Most of the time our daughter is not awake and we've discovered, now that she is older and talks in her sleep (and when she is "awake"), that it can be contributed to alot of things and some may be due to her past. She woke one night screaming, but not awake, and was asking for her crib. She has never slept in a crib (at least not since she's been home). She was very tall at 10 months and came out of her crib from day one. We lowered it to the very lowest position and she still climbed out. So, she pretty much was moved to her mattress on the floor( her physicians recommendation). So, she has never slept in a crib. When she was close to two we moved her to her toddler bed and now she is in her big girl bed, but never in a crib. So, I'm not sure why she was asking for her crib. She also tends to have night terrors, which may or may not be related to her history. I've seen alot of night terrors(as a nurse), but it's no fun when it's your kiddo.

We spend a lot of time to this very day in her room comforting her back to sleep. We have never brought her into our room or our bed, but we do spend a lot of time in her room comforting her.
I just remind myself that she had a rough start at life and I have no idea what she may be going through(thinking or feeling), even though she has been home for over two years. It has gotten easier..... She only wakes once or twice a night, but it still happens. Usually only for 15-20 minutes.
As someone posted earlier, it may be teething, but I know from experience that alot of the girls in our group of 40 babies, had/have sleep issues. Just try to remain patient and realize that it is very different (and at times very exhausting) with an adopted child. They've been through so much.
You're a great mom and I know you'll get through it. Maybe with a little less sleep, but you'll get through it:)

Hang in there!
